We Got To Kansas City On A Friday…

“We got to Kansas City on a Friday…

By Saturday we’d learned a thing or two.” – the musical Oklahoma

Our road trip this summer started off as they all do by hitting the great American roadway. We left early on a Friday morning and made our way thru Oklahoma City, stopping quickly to see the National Memorial in downtown OKC.  We then continued another 2.5 hours north into the city of Wichita, KS.  We stopped and had a late lunch there at an adorable outdoor deli.  Then we made the last leg of our first day’s journey in to Kansas City where we had made arrangements to stay the night.

Let me tell you…Kansas City is a beautiful city!  Having been on the road all day, we enjoyed getting out and walking around downtown.  We found a little place to grab a bite to eat near the Power and Light District.  Mainly, we just enjoyed walking and getting out to stretch our legs.  A very enjoyable evening.  So enjoyable in fact that we decided to spend an extra day in KC.

Saturday, without a plan, we decided to hire a limo service in Kansas City to haul us around for the day, show us all of the sites, and let us experience as much of the city as we could without the worries of driving and directions!  This was definitely the way to see the city.  We enjoyed going to the Plaza where the girls got to do some shopping.  We also enjoyed going to see all of the sports complexes and going to see the menagerie of historical districts that they have in town.

Definitely an enjoyable experience.  Sally and I decided that this would even be a place that we would enjoy coming back for a weekend getaway (without the kids of course)!

All in all, Kansas City was a hit, but we had our sites set on Wisconsin.  Sunday we continued our journey to the land of cheese…
